Zoodl: 2nd-8th AI Homework Help & Study App

Designed and built an AI-powered learning platform that helps K–8 students with homework, study prep, and skill-building through child-friendly UX, gamified flows, and parent-managed profiles.

Duration: 3.5 years
Role: Lead Product Designer
Platform: Web App (iOS & Android coming soon)

The Challenge

The edtech market is saturated with adult-centric AI tools repackaged for students, resulting in poor task completion rates, low retention, and limited parental trust. Zoodl needed to expand from outdated learning platform into a new information architecture and interaction model designed specifically for elementary and middle school cognitive patterns, paired with a separate parent experience for account management, content oversight, and subscription control, all within a regulatory framework governing data collection from minors.

  • Kids disengaged from text-heavy AI chat interfaces built for adults
  • Parents needed COPPA-compliant controls and visibility into their child's activity
  • No clear path from "homework photo" to actual learning and retention
  • Subscription products for families require trust-building before purchase
